A GOOD PAIR OF 46-BORE FLINTLOCK BOXLOCK POCKET PISTOLS BY J. COOK OF SHEPTON MALLET, CIRCA 1800, no visible serial number,
with 2in. turnoff Birmingham proofed barrels, boxlock actions engraved with martial trophies together with the retailers name on the left 'J. Cook' and Shepton Mallet on the right, centre cocks with sliding bar safety that locks the frizzen, folding triggers and slab sided walnut grips, both with vacant shield shaped escutcheons, the action of one pistol at fault

Provenance: The retailer was John Cook of High St. Shepton Mallet, active circa 1797 to 1839. After his death the business was continued by his son until 1866
